Barbara Berman bio

Consistent with her emphasis on guiding clients through end-of-life challenges and transitions, Barbara Berman’s practice encompasses estate controversies, trust and probate administration, estate planning, and guardianship.

A Harvard Law School graduate, Barbara began her legal career in Washington, D.C., with the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System and the Antitrust Division of the U.S. Department of Justice. Upon moving to Phoenix in 1979, she entered private practice, focusing on financial institution regulatory law and rising to equity partner at one of Arizona’s largest law firms.

Barbara left the practice of law to raise a family, while also serving as an active volunteer in schools and community organizations. During that time, she experienced first-hand, through family members, many of the issues arising from life transitions, which ultimately led her to re-enter the practice of law with a focus on helping clients navigate those often-challenging transitions.

Barbara is originally from Baltimore, Maryland, and grew up in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, before earning her bachelor’s degree in economics from Rice University.
